Confucius Institute at the University of Miskolc Holds An Activity of Calligraphy Experience

On October 28th, the Confucius Institute at the University of Miskolc held an activity of calligraphy experience for a small group of people. This activity was held for the students in the Chinese class at the Diosgyori High School, a teaching site of the Confucius Institute at the University of Miskolc. All the students had been looking forward to this activity for a while.

That afternoon, students came to the classroom early, where the teacher had already prepared writing brushes, ink sticks, papers and ink stones. The teacher started with a brief introduction on the "Four Treasures of the Study” and calligraphic font. Then students picked up writing brushes and practiced different calligraphy brush strokes carefully. When practicing to write the Chinese character, they experienced the changes in stroke by using the writing brush.

The Education Channel of CCTV shot and interviewed this activity. All the students fully cooperated, hoping to present the best to the Chinese audiences.

In addition, students practiced to write their names with writing brushes. After the activity, students were still intoxicated with the scent of ink. It is well accepted that calligraphy practice depends on perseverance. The teachers sent students paper and writing brushes, encouraging them to continue calligraphy practice. All the students enjoyed this activity and expected more of this kind.
